Somewhere around 50 percent of men, it is estimated, will suffer from a degree of baldness in their lives and most of them would love to reverse their thinning hair. With numbers this big baldness cures abound on the Internet. But how do you find a good cure for baldness?
Balding cures are not cheap and there are hundreds of millions of dollars or more at stake. With money like that to be made there will always be many products available to buy however that doesn’t mean that these baldness cures work or even that they are safe for you to use.
The Internet is pretty much unregulated and it’s very easy to put up a website selling cures for baldness. There is no requirement that anyone who does this demonstrate that their hair loss treatment does anything to reverse hair loss or even that it is safe to use. You have to beware of any cures for baldness on the net.
Buying baldness cures on the Internet can be an easy way to get ripped off. There’s a good chance they won’t grow more hair on your head and they may well be harmful to your health and wallet. So should you just forget about finding a good cure for hair loss?
Not at all. We have an organization whose job it is to regulate these things. The FDA has approved two products to use as men’s hair loss treatments. Both these products have been demonstrated to the satisfaction of the FDA to work to counter male balding, including in cases of male pattern baldness, because that causes over 90 percent of men’s balding.
We can fairly assume that if the FDA is satisfied that these products work as baldness cures there is sufficient evidence that this is the case. In fact there are scientific studies demonstrating that these products work as a cure for baldness. Whilst that may be the case they will not work for everybody and no product works as a baldness cure for everybody.
The 2 FDA approved baldness cures for men are finasteride and minoxidil. Finasteride is marketed as Propecia and is not approved for use in cases of hair loss by women because it has been shown to have some serious side-effects for women who use it to reverse hair loss. Although it is approved for men it can also have some side-effects for men including loss of libido.
Minoxidil is approved for use as a hair loss treatment by both men and women. It is thought that it improves hair growth by improving the blood flow to the hair follicle thereby increasing the flow of nutrients to the follicle. In cases of male pattern baldness a hormone restricts the ability of hair follicles to absorb nutrients and so increasing the flow of nutrients would improve hair growth it would seem.
One company has seen a way to improve the results that you may expect. If minoxidil improves the flow of blood to the hair follicle to make more nutrients available, then if those nutrients are supplied in optimum quantities then this will maximize the chances of optimum hair regrowth.
This product seems to work more effectively than simply using minoxidil on its own.
So if you’re looking for baldness cures on the Internet remember to beware. Whilst there are many cures for baldness available only 2 have been approved by the FDA as a hair loss treatment for men. Minoxidil is the only product approved as a male pattern baldness cure and also as a hair loss treatment for women.
