It is strange how some people do not like to travel too far from home on their vacation while others like to travel as far as possible. Whatever your travel interest is you will find a wealth of information online at numerous travel sites. In fact, many people have turned to planning entire vacations on a website. The predominance of websites dedicated to travel says just how popular this method is as every tour operator has their website as well to add to the mix.
It may seem strange but I do not fully trust using the internet to arrange my vacation. Being form the old school, it is nice to sit down and talk to a person who will actually listen to what I am saying. There always seems to be much more flexibility with a travel agent and you are able to ask for more details and change your mind with much more ease. I have never found it easy dealing with travel sites especially when I want to have a discussion with someone before I make a decision on something; plus on the very rare occasion you manage to get through to a support line, they are not as helpful as someone sitting in front of you.
If you do speak to someone, they may just tell you what you want to hear which is easy and what are the chances you will be able to find them? There are too many factors that can go wrong and that’s why I love having a travel agent because although I may spend a bit more than if purchasing from a website, the peace of mind is priceless. One of my friends only ever uses the travel sites to book her vacations but she does like the last minute discounts that can be found which are much easier to find using the internet. Admittedly, she has save a small fortune this way as she will just look at the sites and be patient until the right vacation comes up at the right price.
I’m not one for last minute travel although I suppose I could be if my schedule was more flexible but my job requires me to ask for vacation months in advance. Other savings to be made using travel sites are the costs of other day trips or tours that are not part of the main vacation. Knowing a little about what you want and information about the location you want to travel too can be useful so I still research as much of this as I can online before I pay my travel agent a visit. I take that information and then see a travel agent because at least I know that if my vacation turns out to be a nightmare, I have someone to come back and yell at.
